Wings Like Eagles: Reflections on Life in the Lord - Volume 1: Genesis-Esther
The heroes and villains of the Old Testament were not that different from us. We owe it to ourselves to study their stories.
The books of Genesis through Esther in the Old Testament tell the story of a special family that God used in executing His plan to save humanity. The history of this people with all their triumphs and failures, serves as a useful guide today for those who are struggling to find their own path through life.
In a career spanning several decades working with a single congregation, David King wrote hundreds of articles for the church's weekly bulletin. This volume is a selection of those articles, based on this Old Testament history.
Praise for Wings Like Eagles:
The material is insightful. It is concise yet thoughtful. It is relevant. It brings these Old Testament passages into our time today.... i have now made it part of my daily routine to read a few in my morning devotion - Rickie Jenkins.
I've known David King for almost 40 years and respect him as a friend, fellow preacher, and fellow pilgrim. His writing reflects his personality: humble, thoughtful, and challenging. His insightful handling of Scripture and godward orientation make this a worthwhile read. I heartily recommend it - Cloyce Sutton.
It did not disappoint. Easy to read, but not shallow. Provides practical takeaways for a modern audience from an ancient text. Does not shy away from the occasional doctrinal issues that come up - Warren King.
David King retired in 2021 following a long career working with the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Wichita, KS. He currently serves the congregation as an elder. He and his wife, Melissa, have four children and seventeen grandchildren.
