Our Love and a Smile: A Sunday Morning Welcome by Hattie Dumerauf
Before worship begins each Sunday, a quiet ministry is happening at the church doors: the ministry of a warm smile.
Our Love and a Smile: A Sunday Morning Welcome is a collection of handwritten poems by Hattie Dumerauf, edited by Myron Bruce.
Why This Book Matters
Greeters and hospitality teams rarely get thanked, yet a friendly welcome can be what brings a visitor back or lifts a weary member's heart. It's easy to forget how much a smile at the door matters.
Hattie Dumerauf, a beloved sister in Christ, spent her later years writing poems for the "Smile Greeters" of her congregation. Compiled over six years, these verses celebrate the power of a friendly welcome and the gift of Christian fellowship. With introductions and reflections from friends who knew her well, the book preserves both her poetry and her legacy of encouragement.
