From a prayer meeting in Antioch to a prisoner in Rome preaching "with all openness, unhindered."

Acts Personal Workbook, Volume 2 is a 14-lesson, 202-page study by Chad Sychtysz on Acts 13-28.

How This Workbook Helps

The second half of Acts follows Paul across Asia Minor, into Macedonia and Greece, and finally to Rome. Along the way he plants the churches that would receive his letters, and he spends the last third of the book in chains, defending himself before one official after another. Readers who know Paul's letters often don't know the story behind them.

Sychtysz keeps reminding the reader that Paul isn't the main character. The apostles "preached Jesus," and every journey, sermon, and trial serves that message. He also traces Luke's quieter argument: Roman governors find nothing against Paul, and Paul insists the gospel fulfills the Law of Moses rather than rebelling against it. A short recap of Acts 1-12 lets a class start here if it needs to.

What's Inside

An introduction covers the book's emphasis, a recap of Acts 1-12, and what Luke means by a "missionary journey." Then fourteen lessons:

  1. First Missionary Journey, part one (13:1-52)
  2. First Missionary Journey, part two (14:1-28)
  3. Council in Jerusalem (15:1-35)
  4. Second Missionary Journey, part one (15:36-16:40)
  5. Second Missionary Journey, part two (17:1-18:22)
  6. Third Missionary Journey, part one (18:23-19:41)
  7. Third Missionary Journey, part two (20:1-21:17)
  8. Paul's Arrest in Jerusalem (21:15-22:22)
  9. Paul's Defense before the Jews (22:23-23:35)
  10. Paul's Defense before Felix (24:1-27)
  11. Paul's Defense before Festus (25:1-27)
  12. Paul's Defense before Agrippa (26:1-32)
  13. Paul's Journey to Rome (27:1-44)
  14. Paul Arrives in Rome (28:1-31)

A conclusion covers Paul's two years in Rome, the prison epistles, what tradition says about his release and death, and why Christ remains the central figure of the book.
