"What must I do to be saved?" Acts answers that question, and Volume 1 shows the church answering it from the very first sermon.

Acts Personal Workbook, Volume 1 is a 15-lesson, 199-page study by Chad Sychtysz on Acts 1-12.

How This Workbook Helps

Acts is where the New Testament comes together. The gospels end with a risen Lord and a commission, and the epistles assume churches already planted. Acts tells what happened in between: how the gospel was first preached, how people responded, and how the church grew from Jerusalem outward.

Sychtysz reads Luke as a careful historian and an inspired writer. He takes the history seriously, from the Roman world to the Jewish councils and Herod's court, without letting it crowd out the point. In these chapters Peter is the central figure: the church is born at Pentecost, tested by persecution and sin, scattered after Stephen's death, and opened to the Gentiles in the house of Cornelius.

What's Inside

An introduction covers Luke's authorship, the Roman world God prepared for the gospel, and the resurrection testimony behind every sermon in Acts. Then fifteen lessons:

  1. Christ's Ascension (1:1-11)
  2. Choosing an Apostle (1:12-26)
  3. Peter's First Sermon (2:1-36)
  4. The Response to Peter's Sermon (2:37-47)
  5. Healing of the Lame Man; Peter's Second Sermon (3:1-26)
  6. Peter and John's Arrest (4:1-31)
  7. The First Discipline within the Church (4:32-5:11)
  8. The Apostles' Arrest (5:12-42)
  9. Stephen's Appointment and Arrest (6:1-15)
  10. Stephen's Defense (7:1-60)
  11. Philip's Ministry (8:1-40)
  12. Saul's Conversion; Peter's Ministry (9:1-35)
  13. Cornelius' Conversion (10:1-48)
  14. Peter's Defense; the Church in Antioch (11:1-30)
  15. Peter's Arrest and Deliverance (12:1-25)

It is also available as a PDF eBook, with an individual-use version and a class-use license.

Who It's For

Adult Bible class teachers who want a full quarter on the birth of the church, preachers working through the conversion accounts or the sermons of Peter and Stephen, new Christians who want to see how the church began, and longtime members who've never studied Acts closely.

Yes. Its 15 lessons fit a quarter of weekly classes. Order a workbook for each student, or buy the class-use PDF license to print copies for your class.

Each volume stands on its own, so a class can study either half of Acts. Together they cover the whole book. See Acts Personal Workbook, Volume 2.

What are the eBook options?
The individual-use PDF is for one reader. The class-use PDF license lets a church print or share copies for a whole class.
