Wings Like Eagles: Reflections on Life in the Lord - Volume 2: Job-Song of Solomon by David King
This world is a jumbled mess, and we yearn for a source of practical wisdom to help us navigate safely through the chaos.
Five books of the Old Testament—Job through Song of Solomon—fill that need beautifully. This ancient library of philosophy speaks to the deepest longings of the human heart, helping us not only to better understand ourselves, but to recognize the steady hand of God amid all the mayhem that surrounds us.
In a career spanning several decades working with a single congregation, David King wrote hundreds of articles for the church’s newsletter. This volume is a selection of those articles, drawn from these five books of Wisdom.
“How many of us have read Job, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, and Song of Solomon but struggle to install the truths these books contain into our daily life? The Bible’s wisdom literature isn’t always easy to ‘get a handle on’ but David King’s book ‘Wings Like Eagles: Reflections on Life in the Lord’ breaks the material down into small chunks (good for a daily devotional!) and provides challenging questions and applications so that we can live what these grand books are teaching us. Simple stories, good quotes, and real-life illustrations surround Scripture to ‘bring it home’ to the reader. You will smile, cry, laugh, and most importantly, be a better disciple for having read this book.” — Mark Roberts
“The Wisdom literature of the Old Testament provides readers with timeless truths that help us understand life and navigate through it. David King’s thoughtful reflections highlight these truths and encourages us to live by them. This volume is a beneficial supplement in a study of the Wisdom literature. I highly recommend it.” — Jay Taylor
