Once Saved Always Saved
What does the Bible Say?
In this tract, Matthew Allen discusses whether or not this popular doctrine aligns with Scripture.
Once saved – always saved has its roots in one of the main tenets of Calvinism called “Perseveration of the Saints.” This doctrine teaches that the Holy Spirit continually operates in a believer’s heart and brings that work to completion.
It is said that believers would fall away if they were left to themselves. We are told that it is not man but God who perseveres. Some have concluded that the way a Christian lives, what he or she says, their character, conduct, or attitude toward other people have nothing to do with the salvation of their soul. This certainly sounds comforting.
We need to examine the Scripture to see how if this doctrine aligns with Biblical teaching.
